LOTUS RADIO is the radio communication arm of the Lotus Communication Network, which was launched to bring media practitioners and communication scholars within Asian Buddhist countries and communities together to promote better understanding and cooperation between Buddhist communities across Asia. Historically there have been much interaction within Asia through Buddhist scholars, missionaries and traders, but, today most Buddhist communities across Asia don’t interact directly with each other, and much of the information about each other is obtained via western media sources. Often these sources misrepresent Buddhist communities and their social, cultural and political systems and developments.

LOTUS RADIO is not a Buddhist media that broadcasts purely dhamma talks and chantings. Our radio programs (podcasts) are designed to reflect social, economic, political, environmental and cultural aspects of Buddhism and Buddhist communities. It is about Engaged Buddhism rather than merely preaching the dhamma.

Buddhist radio practitioners are welcomed to contribute contents to this site and also we welcome donations from Buddhists and others to support our work and expand our programming. We use English as a link language between Buddhist communities in Asia. Programs in other languages will be considered as long as a translated transcript in English is provided.
